The next version of the Call of Duty franchise has here, reintroducing the renowned first-person shooter. But, as one would expect from a AAA behemoth released by Activision, Modern Warfare 2 is not cheap.

The game costs $70 on all platforms, and there isn’t much you can do about it. Some new games, particularly those from smaller studios, are released directly to Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, making them immediate members of the popular subscription programs.
But is the same true with Modern Warfare 2?
Is MW2 available on PlayStation Plus?
Unfortunately, neither Xbox Game Pass nor PlayStation Plus support the latest Call of Duty.
The subscription services are available for a monthly price and offer access to a limited number of games. In the case of PlayStation Plus, the Essential edition of the subscription service costs $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year. It includes two monthly downloaded games, unique discords, cloud storage for stored games, and access to online multiplayer.
To play MW2 online, users must have PlayStation Plus Essential.
PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium are somewhat more expensive than basic PlayStation Plus, but they provide additional benefits.
PlayStation Plus Extra costs $14.99 a month and offers all of the benefits of PlayStation Plus Essential as well as a portfolio of up to 400 of the most “enjoyable” PS4 and PS5 titles, including blockbuster successes from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners.
While PlayStation Plus Premium costs $17.99 and includes all of the perks of the Essential and Extra levels as well as 340 more titles, including PS3 games accessible through cloud streaming and a portfolio of famous classic games from the original PlayStation, PS2, and PSP generations.
Neither option contains the new Call of Duty.
While MW2 is not and most likely will not be accessible on PlayStation Plus, there is a potential it may be added to Xbox Game Pass in the future. Never say never with Microsoft attempting to purchase Activision Blizzard.
